Add ubuntu machine to Active Directory

We can authenticate an ubuntu machine to the Windows Active Directory service using a tool known as likewise-open. The same can be downloaded as below :

wget http://de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/l/likewise-open/likewise-open_6.1.0.406-0ubuntu10_amd64.deb

Install the package :

dpkg -i likewise-open_6.1.0.406-0ubuntu10_amd64.deb

Join to the domain as below :

domainjoin-cli join domain.com administrator_name

Once it is success, you would be able to login using the AD credentials.

Note :

By default, ubuntu wont show you the option to login as ‘other’ users. You can add the below values in /etc/lightdm/lightdm.conf to enable the option.

[SeatDefaults]
greeter-show-manual-login=true
greeter-hide-users=true

Now login as “domain.com\username” and give the password to login

Thanks
